Joan’s first book, Journey To Freedom, centers around Tashi, a fifteen-year-old Tibetan boy who has the formidable task of guiding three American children of medical missionaries out of Tibet in 1950 during the Chinese invasion. This task becomes solely his when his father, the leader of the group, is severely injured on an icy slope and must be left behind to recuperate. The challenges facing Tashi: the insecurity of being able to do what is expected of him, the prejudice against others different than himself, the fear of the unknown and of these “foreign devils” he ‘s honor bound to guide and, last but not least, the battle for survival over some of the most dangerous terrain in the world will be universal in its appeal. At journey’s end, Tashi comes to terms with his prejudice and preconceived ideas and comes to realize that their survival depends on faith in each other.

Joan is unpublished. If you are interested in a full manuscript, please email her at jomari100@msn.com.
